It feels like just yesterday that we announced a whole slew of new fabrics for Spotlight, doesn’t it? Well, guess what? There’s even more to share!
Here's a sneak peek at some of the standout prints from the collection that I absolutely adore. When I was designing this range, I had a few concerns that these bold, large-scale prints might not make the cut. However, Spotlight has been incredibly supportive of these designs, and I couldn’t be happier. These are exactly the kinds of prints I’ve been itching to sew myself.
One of my absolute favorites is the watercolor broken stripe print. It’s printed on our beloved twill fabric, which is fantastic for creating dresses, skirts, and jackets. I’m currently working on a dress using this fabric, and I also have plans to make a skirt out of it. Unfortunately, I can’t share the dress just yet—it’s part of an upcoming Liesl + Co. pattern that’s still in development. Rest assured, it will be worth the wait.

The twill fabric also features a row of dots in two colorways—navy and a vibrant mix of pinks and oranges. While the navy is classic and elegant, the bright pinks and oranges add a playful touch that’s hard to resist.
Another standout piece is the big abstract floral print, which is made from sateen. The fabric is buttery soft and drapes beautifully, making it ideal for women’s clothing. As for which colorway to go with—the blue/green or the pink/orange—I find myself torn. Personally, I lean towards the green/blue combination, but many others seem drawn to the warm tones of the pink/orange.

I also have a soft spot for the windowpane design in sateen. It’s incredibly cute for dresses and tops, adding a touch of charm and sophistication.
There are plenty of other prints in the collection, such as a poplin floral with a textured print that’s particularly eye-catching. If you enjoyed our previous sailboat print, you’ll definitely want to check out the new umbrella print and the whimsical cloud print featuring hot air balloons and airplanes soaring through the sky. Oh, and don’t forget the big dots—they’re perfect for creating adorable little girls’ dresses or a variety of other projects. I’m already thinking about how to incorporate the pink or blue/green dots into my next sewing project.
You can browse the entire Fall 2014 Lisette fabric collection for Spotlight on their official website.
Are you inspired to dive into some sewing projects using these fabrics? I’d love to see what you create!
