"Pleasant Goat" Follow Disney site construction theme park

Disney's arrival in Shanghai has raised concerns for local animation companies. Yesterday, a reporter contacted the producer of "Pleasant Goat and the Big Big Wolf," Guangdong Yuan Yuan Dynamic Cultural Communications Limited. The company's publicity department, represented by Shao Haowen, revealed that "Pleasant Goat" is already planning to build its own theme park, with site selection currently underway. Shao Haowen noted that competition in the industry is set to intensify. He mentioned that the founder of "Pleasant Goat," Lu Yongqiang, is currently overseas. Shao believes that Disney's influence won't happen overnight, and its presence in Shanghai will definitely increase competition in the domestic animation sector. However, he said it's still too early to accurately estimate how much impact Disney will have on the market. He added that foreign animated characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck entering China could affect the pricing of domestic animation merchandise. Despite this, the company remains confident in its future. Earlier this year, some websites and media conducted surveys showing that in certain areas, "Pleasant Goat" has surpassed Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck in children's minds. Building a theme park is one of Lu Yongqiang’s long-term goals. Currently, the company is conducting detailed project evaluations, focusing on profitability and business models. According to Shao, as Disney enters the Chinese market, "Pleasant Goat" is also expanding internationally. For example, the show is now being broadcast on MTV Children's Channel in Southeast Asia, covering 17 regions. The company is now actively expanding into overseas markets, aiming for Europe in the near future. "If you want to build a theme park, just having two cartoon characters isn't enough," Shao said. Looking ahead, the company plans to produce one or two cartoons each year, with 60 to 80 episodes per series, while introducing content for different age groups. They are currently producing two TV versions of their animations, which will be released next year: "Cuju Little Heroes" with 120 episodes and "Seven Sentiations" with 52 episodes. Additionally, a new puppet show called "Three Wishes of Goat and Big Big Wolf" will debut in Guangzhou. Details about the investment, size, and funding sources for the theme park remain undisclosed. It is understood that the park will feature sets from the "Pleasant Goat" cartoon, game booths, amusement rides, and a family-friendly area. The ultimate goal is to create a child-friendly, "Chinese-style Disneyland." The company has already started selecting sites in cities like Guangzhou and Dalian, with plans to open the first theme park in the northern market.
