Shandong Gaomi City Becomes China's Footwear Production Base
On September 15, the fourth expanded meeting of the sixth council of the China Leather Association took place at the Hongqiao Hotel in Shanghai. During the event, Jia Qinqing, Deputy Mayor of Gaomi City in Shandong Province, received the prestigious "China Footwear Production Base – Gaomi" award and delivered a speech highlighting the city's growing role in the national footwear industry.
Jia emphasized that Gaomi, which has emerged as a rising shoe production hub in China, is currently undergoing a new phase of transformation centered on industrial upgrading and brand building. The local government, along with shoe manufacturers, is actively addressing both opportunities and challenges by implementing strategic initiatives such as enhancing brand value, improving environmental standards, and optimizing working conditions.
In addition to these efforts, the city is focusing on increasing the technological content of its products, elevating design quality, and strengthening management practices. These measures are aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability and competitiveness within the global market.
It’s also worth noting that the China Leather Association has entered into joint construction agreements with ten special regional governments, further reinforcing collaboration and development across the industry. This partnership underscores the collective commitment to driving innovation, promoting sustainable growth, and positioning China as a global leader in footwear manufacturing.
