Encounter billions of years of ancient fossils

By chance, I discovered a Chinese sturgeon fossil 140 million years ago in western Liaoning. This is quite interesting.

Not long ago, I and several Tibetan friends went to Liaoxi to catch the wind and prepare to collect some of the local living appliances that will disappear, such as spinning wheels and padlocks. When we visited in a rural village, we heard that local villager Zhang Mou shaved a piece of fish fossil when he recently put sheep on the mountain. It is said that this fossil is not only bulky, but also the size of the stone fish.

So we rushed to the home of the villager Zhang to watch. This is a fossil similar to a spindle. It has small heads and large tails. The whole stone is white. It is extremely clean and tidy. It is about 20 cm long, about 8 cm high, and about 3 cm thick. In the middle of the fossil, a plump fish is clearly traversing. The fish head is large and long-tailed, its head is wide, its fins are dense, and its pectoral fins are three. It is clear and clear. The head is about 3 cm wide and the tail is about 3 cm long. What is amazing is that in the whole stone, this fish seems to be swimming freely.

This stone is a natural fossil, without any artificial traces. The picture is complete, the form is beautiful, and the overall outline is clear. It really makes people love it. The surnamed villagers introduced that many fish fossils have been unearthed in the local area. However, the fish on this stone have many special features in terms of form and fatness. Unlike other fish fossils, he has deliberately saved them. Based on many years of fossil experience, I initially concluded that the fish on this fossil is not a previously discovered "Ye County finfish" and should be another ancient fish.

Under everyone's persuasion, the surnamed Zhang villagers readily transferred this piece of fossil to me. After the fossils arrived, I immediately drove to the department of cultural relics in Liaoning Province and asked the experts to sign it. When the three experts saw the fossils, they were surprised and asked me where they came from. After careful questioning, they said with certainty that this is a very precious fossil of Chinese sturgeon. The fat fish in the stone is the Chinese sturgeon more than 100 million years ago. This appraisal surprised both me and the experts. In particular, I accidentally obtained a piece of "gemstone". It really means that "it will take no effort."

To be on the safe side, after returning home, I rushed to the province with the stone and asked the relevant experts to identify him again. After watching them, they were also very surprised and told me very confidently that this is a fossil of Pangasius squid, a Chinese sturgeon. It lived in the late Jurassic from 140 million years ago and fossils formed in the Late Jurassic terrestrial strata. Experts said that this ancient Chinese sturgeon is the earliest species of earthworm on the earth and the oldest vertebrate on earth. It has a history of 140 million years and is called the "living fossil."
