What are the risks of changing bedding?

How often the sheets should be changed has always been a hot topic. But new research shows that millions of Britons are at risk of getting sick because they change the frequency of pillows and duvets too low. The survey included nearly 2,200 men and women over the age of 18. The survey found that 82% did not know how long it would take to change pillows and duvets. According to the Sleep Committee, pillows should be replaced every two years, and duvets should be thrown away after five years of use. But a study by ErgoflexUK showed that British pillows lasted an average of 3.2 years, while duvets lasted 7.6 years.

Experts say that during sleep, their head and neck don't get enough support, so there is a risk of neck problems. They also face the risk of health problems associated with dust mites. According to the survey, 57% of people only change their bedding after they feel thin. About 46% said they replaced bedding because they felt they hadn't replaced them for a long time.

Others say that when they are difficult to sleep or feel uncomfortable, they will throw away the bedding. For 21% of people, this is a question of money - they only buy new bedding with discounts. Although people don't know how long they should change their bedding, most people know that the frequency of pillow replacement should usually be higher than the duvet. According to the survey, 61% of people change pillows more frequently because they realize that not doing it will be unsanitary.

Jed McEwan, executive director of , said: "We can't believe that 82% of Britons don't know the recommended time to change bedding, let alone every Englishman. The average length of pillows and downs is longer than one to two years.

"They not only increase the chances of people going through sleepless nights, but the lack of adequate support in the neck and head will also interrupt the continuity of their sleep time, and the dust mites from old bedding can also bring about a variety of Hygiene issues. The independent expert of the Sleep Committee recommends that mattresses should be changed every seven years and must be very cautious. Duvets and pillows should be replaced every five years and every two years.
