GiltGroupe will launch a full-price men's retail website

GiltGroupe will launch a full-price men's retail website. GiltGroupe is a 36-hour limited time to buy and sell online shopping site, selling VivienneTam, MarcJacobs and DerekLam and other big-name men, the maximum discount is 30% off. The site sells men's, women's and children's clothing, accessories and lifestyle goods. Since April 2008, Gilt has started selling men's products and in October last year launched a dedicated men's website. The current male business has sales of more than 100 million US dollars, accounting for nearly one-third of the company's business. According to the company's senior management's logic, the next step should be the introduction of a single full-price men's Web site from the current limit buy out. The launch of the site is expected in July 2011, just in time for the launch of the pre-Autumn series. The new site will supply clothing, accessories and sports equipment. There are 75-100 brands, many of which are currently marketed at GiltMan, such as A.Testoni, CalvinKlein and JohnVarvatos. The sales of merchandise on the new site will remain the whole season, completely different from the 36-hour sales now under the time-limited snap mode. E-commerce is a rapidly growing industry. According to data provided by MasterCard, online retailers increased by 11.4% from October 31 to November 13. However, there are not many e-commerce sites that lock in men. Most e-commerce sites are for women, such as the limited-time buying sites Rue LaLa, Ideeli and HauteLook, as well as the Net-a-porter, a full-price luxury site. Websites dedicated to men's wear and accessories include Topman (which sells contemporary urban brands Wesc and Ben Sherman), and MainlineMenswear (which sells designer brands such as Lacoste, Ted Baker and Paul Smith). However, none of the above sites are part of Gilt's competitors, as the latter is a luxury. Their biggest business rival is undoubtedly NetPorter's men's site Mr Porter. The site is geared towards the time-rich and wealthy men, offering a selection of clothing, shoes and accessories including 60 premium brands such as Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Dunhill and Mr.byRolandMouret.
